Kitchen Project

Stipping Out The New to Expose the Old

Any trace of the rear of the building's Tudor frame had been plasterboarded over in the 1980's/90's.

The plan was to rip out the existing kitchen/expose the origional beams and do away with a stud wall which divided the dining room an kitchen.

The offending stud wall.

Now that the ceiling was down, it was time for the lovely 500 year old beams to be cleaned and treatment. We had to do alot of work re-routing the plumbing hidden being the cuoboards which were removed.

The Old Six Bells Pub in Great Waltham

The aim of this space is to record my experience with owning and restoring a historic listed building. After falling in love with this building 3 years ago, my wife and I purchased part of what was formally known as The Six Bells Inn.

The construction of the building is part Tudor and part Georgian.
